When growth gets complicated.

Founder mentoring, board facilitation, co-founder mediation. Grounded in real experience of building, funding, and exiting a SaaS business.

What I help with

The calls I get tend to start the same way: "I need to talk to someone who's been through this."

Usually it's one of a few things:

  • Preparing for a fundraise and not knowing what good looks like

  • A co-founder relationship that's quietly deteriorating

  • A board that isn't functioning properly

  • Being post-exit and trying to work out what comes next

I've been through all of these personally - not as a consultant watching from the side.

How I work

I'm not a consultant who hands over a deck and disappears. Depending on what you need, I might be your mentor for a few months, facilitate a difficult conversation between co-founders, chair your board, or just be the person you call when you need an honest answer.

Typical engagements include:

  • Mentoring sprints - usually four weeks, focused on a specific decision or transition

  • Co-founder alignment - structured sessions to get the working relationship back on track

  • Board and governance - chair, NED, or facilitation roles for founders building a board or improving one that isn't working

  • Ongoing advisory - a sounding board you can call on when something comes up

I set my rates fairly, I don't oversell, and I'd rather tell you I'm not the right person than waste your time.

What happens if you get in touch

We have a conversation

No prep, no forms. You tell me what's going on, I'll be honest about whether I can help. If I'm not the right person, I'll say so.

We agree what would be useful

That might be a four-week mentoring sprint around a specific decision, a series of co-founder sessions, an ongoing advisory arrangement, or a one-off piece of facilitation. I'll suggest what I think fits and what it'll cost.

We do the work

I don't do long proposals or decks. We get into it, I follow up properly between sessions, and we stop when the work's done.

Simon Greany

About me

I co-founded and ran a learning technology business for over a decade. We bootstrapped it, grew it to £2m+ ARR, brought in private equity investment, and exited 5 years later. Along the way I navigated co-founder disagreements, a banking crisis that put £3m at risk overnight, Covid, and the odd identity wobble that follows selling a business you built from nothing.

Since leaving, I've built a practice around the things I'm genuinely good at: mentoring founders through the moments that matter, chairing boards, and helping people have the difficult conversations they've been putting off.

I'm training as a mediator because I've seen how much damage unresolved co-founder and board conflict can do to otherwise good businesses. It's a gap I keep noticing, and now it's becoming a real specialism.

I chair the Ventures Committee at Ufi VocTech Trust, I'm chair of a B2B SaaS company, and I facilitate peer founder groups. I care about this work and I take it seriously.

Richard Ward
Co-Founder

"Working with Simon has been an impactful experience. He understood our business fast, dug deep in key areas, and presented back his findings and recommendations to really help us narrow our go to market strategy. When you're deep in the business day in day out, having someone external ask key questions, listen, evaluate, analyse and recommend a path has been a really valuable process to go through."

Tom Ring
CEO and Co-founder

"His guidance has been invaluable at both a strategic and operational level. He brings genuine experience and is generous in sharing it - taking real time to understand our needs and sending a thoughtful summary after every session. Charming, patient, and a pleasure to work with."

Lauren McQuade
Founder

"Simon helped me move from confusion to real clarity. He was genuinely invested in my vision, and his follow-up questions pushed me to think critically for myself. After four weeks I left with a detailed, actionable 90-day plan and a renewed sense of commitment."
